Where science, art and fantasy meet

BedVibe Studios is a creative technology studio where speech research, software, audio production, storytelling and dark fantasy worldbuilding live in the same place. The world came first. As it grew, so did the need for better ways to bring it to life. We built the voices. We built the tools. We built the research systems behind them. Then we began using everything we had built to make the world itself. That became BedVibe Studios.

The world

The Mirelands is an original dark fantasy saga set on the planet Kthonia, with its own characters, histories, languages, realms and lore, extending into novels, games, voices and fully produced audio. The books establish the story and its canon. The lore archive preserves the history. The card game lets people walk into its wars. The dramatized editions turn its scenes into performances. Nothing here was licensed, adapted or bolted on afterwards.

One studio, many forms of creation

The work is connected. The novels and lore supply the stories, characters and history. The voice systems give those characters a voice. The audio production tools turn written scenes into performed ones. The games let people enter the world themselves. Fantasy talking avatars, with synchronised voice and lip movement, bring characters into interactive spaces. The datasets and corpora provide material for research. The retrieval and evaluation systems let us work with a story that has grown far past what any single model can hold at once. The world creates the engineering problems, and the engineering helps us build and protect the world.

The voices are people

Every voice in the catalogue begins with a working voice actress in a professional studio, cast for the role and recorded properly. There is no scraped audio here. The performers are cleared, credited and paid, and the catalogue keeps growing because we keep recording.

In those same sessions we capture what no model can invent — a gasp, a caught breath, a cough, a laugh that breaks halfway through. Speech systems are poor at non-verbal human sound, ours included, so we do not synthesise it. The generated line carries the words and the performer carries everything between them, in the same voice, from the same session.

From stories to immersive audio

A dramatic production is not just words. A breath before a sentence can matter. A gasp, a whisper, a growl, a pause, a shift in intensity, or where a voice sits in the room can change an entire scene. So our productions combine voice work with recording, direction, editing, sound design, spatial positioning and environmental layers.

The Mirelands is where that becomes a complete production system. Its stories are adapted for performance rather than read start to finish. Characters speak. Scenes move. Environments have sound. Voices occupy space. Fire burns, water moves, footsteps approach, creatures react, and silence becomes part of the production. What comes out sits somewhere between literature, performance, cinema and sound design — and the point of all of it is that you hear the character, not the machinery behind the character.

We build the world, and we share the tools

BedVibe Studios is also a workshop. We develop speech models, datasets, corpora, audio utilities, evaluation systems, open-source libraries, production tools and editors because we need them ourselves. Some become products, some become research, and some are released for anyone to use. The tools we build to create our universe are the tools we share with you.

It is meant to be a playground as much as a production environment. You can explore voices, generate audio, experiment with characters, work with sound, read the research, play the game, walk through the lore, or simply listen to what the technology becomes once it is placed inside a real story. The card game is free. The libraries are open source and published. Every account carries tokens before it spends anything, and you only pay once you put our machines to serious work.

HD output is worth a word, since people ask. It is not a locked tier. Each generated line passes through an enhancement chain that lifts the noise floor away from the voice and reshapes the result around how human hearing works. It costs more because it is more computation, not because something is being withheld.

The novels are part of the laboratory

A long-running saga contains tens of thousands of words per volume, with recurring characters, locations, relationships, historical events and languages that must stay consistent across books. As the corpus grows, ordinary question answering over it becomes steadily less reliable.

So we use the fiction itself to test long-document retrieval, evidence grounding, structured question answering, retrieval-augmented generation and hallucination detection. It is not an artificial benchmark built for an experiment — it is a real and still-expanding body of work with consequences when something goes wrong. The engineering then feeds back into the writing, auditing and protecting the continuity of the world as it grows. What comes out of that work is published as citable research rather than asserted as a claim.

All of it is the same body of work

The audiobooks and audio dramas were produced with the generator on this page. The avatars were built here. The Mirelands novels were written first and then performed with these voices. Open any of them and you are hearing exactly what these tools do in production, with nothing held back for a demo reel.

If you arrive with a project of your own — a book, a game, a series, a character who needs a voice that does not exist yet — we take that work on. Custom productions are built here end to end: casting, recording, model work, direction and finished audio. Studio services has the details.

The engineering notes — the model work, the evaluations, the failure studies — live on the engineering blog, so this page does not have to carry them.

We build the world. We build the voices that inhabit it. We build the tools that make both possible. Then we share what we learn.
